FIMA 2026 kicks off its 44th edition with a bang

FIMA2026 opened its doors today at the Zaragoza Trade Fair, kicking off its 44th edition and once again solidifying its position as the leading international meeting point for the agricultural machinery and technology sector. With 1,267 exhibiting brands from 35 countries and an exhibition area of ​​88,480 square meters, the event begins with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and digitalization applied to agriculture.

King Felipe VI presided over the opening ceremony of this 44th edition of FIMA, reaffirming with his presence the support of the highest representation of the State for this benchmark event for the agri-food sector. The monarch was accompanied by the acting President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón; the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas; the President of the Zaragoza Trade Fair, Jorge Villarroya; and the Government Delegate in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán. The mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca; the Ombudsman of Aragon, Concepción Gimeno; and the Vice President and Minister of the Presidency, Economy, and Justice of the Government of Aragon, Mar Vaquero, were present.

During his visit, the King toured several of the exhibitors' stands, showing interest in the latest technological innovations applied to the agricultural sector. His Majesty's presence generated great excitement among the public and professionals, who received him warmly and with expressions of affection. The tour, which lasted approximately two hours, took place in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and recognition of the Crown's role in promoting the country's strategic sectors.

In his address to the media, Jorge Villarroya highlighted the organization's positive outlook for this edition: “A fair featuring top-tier machinery and technical innovations. On the one hand, FIMATech focuses on precision technology, and on the other, FIMAConectaTalento promotes generational renewal. FIMA is being held at a very special time for the agricultural sector and represents a clear commitment to innovation, competitiveness, sustainability, and generational renewal.”

During the first day of FIMA 2026, attendees participated in various technical sessions and meetings for the agri-food sector. Among the highlights were:

The international trade missions, organized by ICEX and FIMA 2026 in Hall 7, which took place throughout the day. Simultaneously, the Renewable Energy in Irrigation Conference, organized by the Spanish Association of Irrigation and Drainage (AERYD), was held. Meanwhile, the company Voltrac presented a talk entitled “What if the tractor did the work while you had breakfast?” in Hall 7.

The program continued with a conference on Digitalization Technologies from the perspective of equipment manufacturers, held in the FIMA Tech area (Hall 9), with the participation of various universities and agri-food cooperatives. Additionally, a practical workshop on adapting pistachio cultivation to different areas of the country was conducted, organized by Agróptimum.

In the afternoon, various technological presentations and sector meetings took place, including a presentation by John Deere, a session on connected spraying by Fede Pulverizadores, meetings of companies such as AZUD, and the AGRAGEX General Assembly, which brought an intense first day to a close.

FIMA 2026: everything to expect at the 44th edition

Looking ahead to tomorrow, among the most noteworthy events is the International Garlic Forum, which will bring together experts, producers, and institutional representatives at the Congress Center to analyze the situation and prospects of this strategic crop. Also taking place is the 10th National Rural Development Forum, which will address the challenges facing rural areas in the new international context and will include the participation of representatives from the Government of Aragon, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Zaragoza Trade Fair.

Innovation and technology will once again take center stage with the launch of AGRICLUSTER Innovation Summer 2026 and the FIMA Tech Start-Up Forum, spaces dedicated to sustainability, biotechnology, robotics, automation, and precision agriculture.

The event will also include numerous technical sessions and professional meetings focused on areas such as cybersecurity in agricultural machinery, ISO-Bus regulations, taxation for family farms, mechanization, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and international markets, in addition to sector meetings and institutional receptions with leading companies in the sector.

New at FIMA 2026

One of the highlights of the event is FIMA Tech (Hall 9), the new space designed to promote technology and digitalization in the agricultural sector. This meeting point brings together startups, universities, knowledge centers, and leading companies that are transforming agriculture through robotics, artificial intelligence, big data, IoT, and precision farming. Meanwhile, FIMA Conecta Talento (Hall 7) arrives at FIMA after its debut at FIGAN 2025. It is a space for dialogue between companies, professionals, and young people interested in developing their careers in agriculture.

In keeping with its commitment to new generations, FIMA 2026 is focusing on innovative digital communication formats and the participation of prominent agricultural influencers, who will be featured in various activities throughout the fair. One of the most anticipated events will be the roundtable discussion “The Future of Agriculture: Talent, Technology, and Transformation,” which will take place on February 12 at 12:00 pm in the Start-up Forum in Hall 8. Agricultural content creators @agricbv, @agripilar, @agroburi, @agriproduccion, and @agropauli will share their experience and vision regarding the challenges, opportunities, and generational change in the agricultural sector.

 

With all these initiatives, FIMA 2026 reaffirms its role as an international benchmark for the agricultural sector, committed to innovation, knowledge sharing, and the creation of opportunities for professionals in the field.
