FIGAN 2027 reaches 82% average occupancy six months before the event
2026-09-29
The Zaragoza Conference Centre hosted the third meeting of the Organizing Committee for the International Animal Production Show (FIGAN 2027) today, where progress regarding the upcoming edition was presented. During the event, a special tribute was paid to the memory of Vicenç Brieba. As the head of the animal feed department and commercial division at bonÀrea Agrupa—the entity holding the committee presidency—he provided fundamental support to the work of the trade fair and the FIGAN committee.
Commercial progress
With six months remaining until the doors open, the Feria de Zaragoza pavilions are showing notable occupancy levels compared to the previous edition; the average commercial occupancy stands at 82.2%, reflecting the livestock sector's confidence in FIGAN. Furthermore, the number of participants continues to rise with new additions, reaching a total of 849 exhibitors from 20 countries.
During the meeting, details were provided regarding the activity areas that will make up the commercial showcase, distributed across six pavilions:
- Pavilion 4: Agro-energy and environmental management; cattle equipment and facilities; feed mill and storage equipment; logistics; machinery; milking and dairy industry; and transport.
- Pavilion 5: Renewable energy; equipment and facilities for poultry, swine, and rabbit farming; genetics and insemination; integrator groups; agricultural institutions or organizations; and slaughterhouses and cutting plants.
- Pavilion 6: Aquaculture; animal feed; veterinary instruments; laboratories; and animal health.
- Pavilion 7: Live animal exhibition; associations; and livestock services and equipment.
- Pavilion 8: Aquaculture; equipment and facilities for the poultry, swine, and rabbit sectors, as well as animal health.
- Pavilion 9: A space dedicated to hosting and supporting the event's conference sessions.
On the international front, FIGAN continues to strengthen its trade mission program—developed in collaboration with ICEX, as well as with key influencers and producer associations in major target markets. The initiative currently involves Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Mexico, Portugal, the Dominican Republic, Romania, Tunisia, Turkey, and Venezuela—a list that has recently expanded to include Ivory Coast and is expected to grow further in the coming months.
Commitment to innovation and technical excellence
The Committee also addressed the Innovation and Technological Improvements Competition, which recognizes R&D&i proposals from exhibiting companies across two categories: Technological Improvement and Technological Innovation. The registration period for the competition remains open until November 27, 2026, with the jury's decision to be announced on January 29, 2027.
Additionally, FIGAN has launched the sixth edition of its Excellence Award, aimed at livestock companies that demonstrate outstanding performance in their operations. This edition will present a total of six awards across the following categories: Goats, Sheep, Swine, Cattle, Rabbits, and Equines.
Boosting generational renewal
Recognizing the importance of securing the future of livestock farming, FIGAN is making generational renewal a key priority. Against this backdrop, the second edition of 'FIGAN Conecta Talento' will take place—an initiative that originated at FIGAN 2025 and has since been successfully held at other Feria de Zaragoza events, such as FIMA and SMOPYC.
The event is scheduled for Friday, March 19, and is aimed at students in intermediate and higher vocational training programs, university degree courses (Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Animal Science), and postgraduate programs. The agenda includes an opening session featuring active professionals and guided tours of the six exhibition halls.
To maximize the reach of this initiative, the Committee has announced a collaboration agreement with the i+Porc cluster, which will assist in promoting the program, identifying vocational training centers, and mobilizing students.
FIGAN, Gold Sponsor of the 3rd AgroInfluye Awards
FIGAN’s commitment to new channels for agri-food communication extends to the 3rd AgroInfluye Awards, for which the event will serve as a Gold Sponsor. The awards gala will take place on February 18, 2027; as part of this partnership, FIGAN will sponsor the "Life on the Farm" category—an initiative that highlights the work of companies and content creators in promoting and raising the profile of rural life.
With this roadmap in place, FIGAN 2027 enters the final stretch of preparations, solidifying an edition where innovation, internationalization, and generational renewal converge to meet the demands of the livestock sector. The eighteenth edition will be held from March 16 to 19, 2027, at Feria de Zaragoza.
