FIGAN joins forces with the i+Porc Dual Vocational Training Awards to promote generational renewal
2026-10-19
Ensuring generational succession in livestock farming and safeguarding the future of the livestock sector is one of the key commitments of the International Animal Production Fair (FIGAN). With the aim of attracting young talent and responding to market needs, the ‘FIGAN Conecta Talento’ initiative was launched; following its success in 2025, this project is expanding its reach at FIGAN 2027 thanks to the strategic partnership established with the i+Porc cluster.
Founded in Aragón in 2018, the Spanish Pig Producers’ Cluster (i+Porc) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to boosting the competitiveness of the Spanish pig sector through collaborative innovation and research. At the same time, it promotes the development of talent and careers in agriculture and livestock by forging strategic alliances between businesses, the educational community and the public administration.
As a result of this partnership, i+Porc will actively collaborate on the ‘FIGAN Conecta Talento’ initiative at FIGAN 2027, whilst FIGAN will co-organise the 6th edition of the i+Porc Awards for Specialised Dual Vocational Training in Pig Production. These awards, in partnership with CaixaBank Dualiza and the National Reference Centre for Livestock Farming (CIFEA in Lorca), recognise the academic excellence and career prospects of students undertaking this training programme across the country.
6th Edition of the i+Porc Dual Vocational Training Awards Specialising in Pig Production
Over the course of its six-year history, this training programme promoted by the cluster has expanded to regions such as Aragon, Castile and León, the Valencian Community, Castile-La Mancha and Navarre, responding to the growing demand from businesses for middle managers and qualified technical staff.
The awards ceremony for this sixth edition will take place at the Zaragoza Exhibition Centre on Tuesday 24 November 2026, as part of a technical conference focused on employment and skills development in the sector. The day’s programme will feature presentations by experts on the evolution of vocational training profiles in the agri-food sector, as well as a round-table discussion featuring ‘Ambassadors for Dual Vocational Training’, with the participation of students, teachers and training centres. Following the awards ceremony, the event will conclude with the formal launch of FIGAN Conecta Talento and a networking session.
FIGAN Conecta Talento: an investment in the future
These awards form part of ‘FIGAN Conecta Talento’, an
initiative launched at the 2025 edition of FIGAN with the aim of bringing the livestock sector closer to younger generations, fostering career aspirations and addressing the urgent need for generational renewal facing the livestock value chain. Following the excellent response to its launch in 2025 and having seen the success of this same formula when replicated at other events — such as the International Agricultural Machinery Fair (FIMA) or the International Exhibition of Machinery for Public Works, Construction and Mining (SMOPYC) —, Feria de Zaragoza is consolidating this initiative at FIGAN 2027 with the participation of i+Porc as a collaborating cluster.
The initiative is aimed at students on intermediate and advanced vocational training courses, university degree programmes (Veterinary Science, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Animal Science) and postgraduate programmes, and includes guided tours of the exhibition halls and meetings with professionals.
Through this partnership, both organisations reaffirm their commitment to serving the sector, acting as an effective bridge between educational institutions, the professionals of tomorrow and the livestock business community.
