The 24th edition of ENOMAQ-OLEOMAQ-EBEER-TECNOVIC-OLEOTEC, the International Exhibition of Machinery, Techniques and Equipment for wineries, olive oil mills and the brewing industry, opened its doors this morning at the Zaragoza Trade Fair. Until February 13th, the fairgrounds in the Aragonese capital will be the meeting point for the wine, olive oil and beer industries, showcasing the latest advances and technology for key sectors of the Spanish economy.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food, Javier Rincón; the Vice President of the Zaragoza Trade Fair, Berta Lorente; and the Councilor for Economy, Digital Transformation and Transparency of the Zaragoza City Council, Carlos Gimeno, who highlighted the economic impact of the event on Zaragoza, especially in February, a month when managing recurring tourism is challenging. “The Zaragoza City Council will always stand by this event, which provides high-quality exposure for both the city and sectors of great importance to Zaragoza,” stated Gimeno.
Likewise, Javier Rincón emphasized that he wanted to demonstrate, through his presence, the importance of ENOMAQ and “the impact that Feria de Zaragoza has not only for the city but also for Aragon,” since “those who attend the fair also get to know our region.”
For her part, the Vice President of Feria de Zaragoza, Berta Lorente, also spoke, stating that “ENOMAQ is a leading international platform for innovation, excellence, and the generation of synergies.” She also highlighted the international nature of the event, which features 394 brands from 5 continents and 61 trade delegations from countries such as the United States, Lebanon, and South Africa, among others.
After speaking with the media, Lorente led the inaugural tour, joined by the Director General of Food at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, José Miguel Herrero; the Deputy Government Delegate in Zaragoza, Noelia Herrero; and the Director General of Trade, Fairs and Crafts, Carmen Herrarte.
ENOMAQ brings together more than 900 brands from 30 countries for three days in its 48,600 square meters of exhibition space. This space highlights the importance of synergies between the wine, olive oil, and beer sectors, a connection that forms the basis of the event's motto: "The essence that unites us." Indeed, 35% of the exhibiting companies have machinery that covers all three sectors, underscoring the cross-sectoral and collaborative spirit that defines ENOMAQ.
In addition to the large exhibition, where companies will showcase their latest innovations and technological advancements in each of the three sectors, this edition of ENOMAQ is complemented by a robust program of more than 60 technical sessions and parallel activities, which began this morning.
In Hall 3 of the Zaragoza Trade Fair Congress Center, the session “The Wine Sector Facing Changes in Consumer Markets” took place, featuring presentations from the Agri-Food Research and Technology Center of Aragon (CITA), the Public University of Navarre, and a round table discussion led by representatives from leading wineries in the sector, Rafael de Rey from the Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers (AEPEV), and Maria Naranjo from ICEX.
Throughout the morning, exhibitions and trade presentations were also held in the rooms set up in Pavilion 9. These will continue in the afternoon with the presentation of the book "The Positioning of High-End Wines in Spain," a presentation on training in viticulture, olive growing, and olive oil production by CIHEAM Zaragoza, and the talk "Innovation and Technology at the Service of a Leading Designation of Origin" by the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, a special guest at this year's event. This afternoon, the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin was presented with a commemorative plaque for its leadership in innovation and for celebrating its centenary.
The Tasting Area also began its program this morning with a tasting of Galician sparkling wines conducted by the Spanish Federation of Oenology. This afternoon, activities in this space continue with a tasting focused on the aromas present in cork, led by the Catalan Cork Institute, and a tasting of extra virgin olive oils from the Mediterranean basin, presented by Mercacei 18 technological improvements and innovations.
Over these three days, the Zaragoza Trade Fair will be the setting for intense commercial and educational activity, with the aim of finding innovative solutions to the numerous challenges currently facing the agri-food industry.
The first day will conclude with the awards ceremony for the Innovations and Technical Improvements Competition and the ENOMAQ-OLEOMAQ-EBEER-TECNOVID-OLEOTEC 2025 Awards. The event will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Congress Center and will be attended by the Minister of Agriculture of the Government of Aragon, Javier Rincón; the Vice President of the Zaragoza Trade Fair, Berta Lorente; and the President of the Awards Jury, Ernesto Franco, who will present the eight awards for excellence.
