The SMAGUA committee meets to evaluate the results of this year's edition

SMAGUA 2025, the International Water and Irrigation Exhibition, concluded its 27th edition with a very positive outcome, solidifying its position as one of the leading events in the water sector in Europe. The event, held in Halls 3, 4, and 9 of the Zaragoza Trade Fair Center, saw a 12% increase in visitors compared to the previous edition, confirming the sector's continued interest and vitality. This was highlighted at the Organizing Committee's latest meeting, held yesterday at the Zaragoza water treatment plant, where the results of this year's edition were analyzed.
SMAGUA 2025 welcomed 25,897 professionals, 89.6% of whom came from Spain and 10.4% from abroad, representing 44 countries, thus reinforcing the exhibition's growing international reach. This year, the event brought together 657 exhibiting brands from 30 countries, spread across an exhibition area of 34,378 m². Both figures represent a 40% increase compared to the previous edition, solidifying SMAGUA's position as a leading showcase for the latest technological developments and innovations in sustainable water management, irrigation, and energy efficiency.
One of the aspects most valued by participating companies was the quality of the professional contacts. According to the data presented, 18% of those surveyed felt that the number of contacts made exceeded their expectations, and 73% said they met their expectations. Furthermore, 74% of visitors plan to pursue a business transaction resulting from the contacts made at SMAGUA.
The event also demonstrated a strong ability to attract new audiences: 22% of visitors were attending SMAGUA for the first time, while 78% had participated in previous editions. Furthermore, 86% of attendees discovered new products and services during their visit.
Meanwhile, satisfaction levels were very high: 94% of visitors reported having achieved their objectives for participating in the event. Alongside the exhibition, SMAGUA 2025 featured a robust program of 80 technical sessions and parallel activities, which brought together more than 3,000 registered attendees. Additionally, 549 international B2B meetings were held, fostering the generation of new business opportunities globally.
The joint event with SPAPER and EXPOFIMER allowed for the creation of synergies and attracted a diverse professional audience, solidifying Feria de Zaragoza's position as a key venue for developing integrated solutions in the water, energy, and sustainability sectors. Institutional support has been fundamental, with backing from entities such as the Directorate General for Water of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the Ebro River Basin Authority, the Aragonese Water Institute, and sector associations. With these excellent results, the organization is already working enthusiastically on the 28th edition of SMAGUA in 2027, which will once again position Zaragoza as the European epicenter of water.
