Success at the water use conference within the framework of FIMA 2024
2024-02-20
Within the framework of the International Agricultural Machinery Fair, held from February 13 to 17, 2024, two days were dedicated to the vital resource of water and its relevance to innovation and governance in the agricultural sector.
On February 13, ZINNAE, the cluster for the efficient use of water, organized a "Day on Water, Source of Innovation," as part of the Agro-Clusters Innovation Summit: Developing the Agricultural Future, organized by CAMPAG. Topics covered included water as a driver of innovation in agriculture, water optimization, and success stories.
On February 14, the Spanish Association of Irrigation and Drainage (AERYD) organized a day entitled "Water Governance in Mediterranean Irrigation." Chaired by Carlos Arrazola Martínez, President of the Ebro River Basin Authority, the event addressed irrigation water governance from both the administrative and end-user perspectives. Leading national and international experts, including Carlos Garrido (Director of the National Center for Irrigation Technology), Marco Arcieri (President of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage), Philippe Saura (Project Director at the Société du Canal de Provence), Alberto Fernández (WWF-Spain), Juan Valero de Palma (FENACORE), and Emilio Camacho (University of Córdoba), among others, shared their knowledge and perspectives on the topic.
The holding of these two days dedicated to water within the context of FIMA underscores the growing awareness of the vital importance of this resource for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that these sessions are just one example of the ongoing commitment to water issues. At SMAGUA, the International Water and Irrigation Exhibition, taking place from March 4-6, 2025, these and many other topics related to the management, innovation, and sustainability of this vital resource will be addressed again, in collaboration with ZINNAE, AERYD, and other organizations in the sector.
The convergence of knowledge and collaboration among diverse stakeholders at events like these are fundamental to driving effective solutions that address current and future water challenges.
