The International Agricultural Machinery Fair (FIMA) is moving forward with preparations for its 45th edition following the first meeting of its Organizing Committee. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) in Madrid and was attended by Bibiana Rodríguez, Deputy Director General of Agricultural Production Means and the Spanish Office of Plant Varieties at MAPA, who highlighted the Ministry's commitment to and support for FIMA 2028. The gathering facilitated progress on the key strategic lines for the upcoming edition, scheduled to be held from February 15 to 19, 2028, at the Feria de Zaragoza exhibition center.

New additions to the Organizing Committee

The meeting also served to officially introduce Fernando Cuervo as the new president of the FIMA Organizing Committee. Managing Director of KUHN Ibérica since 2023, Cuervo has a career spanning over two decades with the multinational firm, having led strategic areas such as product development, sales, and marketing.

With the aim of strengthening the sector's technical representation, seven new companies have joined the Committee:

• Zetrack: A Spanish company specializing in the development of electric, autonomous, and connected agricultural machinery, offering solutions geared toward more efficient and sustainable farming, including tractors and smart agricultural robots.
• AUSA: A Spanish manufacturer of compact off-road vehicles—specializing in dumpers, forklifts, and telehandlers for the construction, industrial, and agricultural sectors—currently part of JLG/Oshkosh.
• Finanzauto: A Spanish company specializing in machinery, engines, and industrial solutions; it is the official distributor for Caterpillar in Spain, as well as for other brands such as Sandvik and Pronar, providing rental and after-sales services.
• Herpa: A Spanish manufacturer of crop protection machinery, with a product range that includes sprayers, air-blast sprayers, application equipment, and diaphragm pumps.
• Hertell: A Spanish company belonging to the MONDRAGON group, specializing in equipment for vacuum tankers—particularly pumps and vacuum pumps—designed primarily for agricultural and industrial applications. Azud: a Spanish company specializing in water efficiency solutions, offering technologies for irrigation, filtration, treatment, and water management for agricultural, industrial, and environmental applications.
• Carod: a Spanish manufacturer of professional machinery specializing in generator sets, motor pumps, pressure washers, compressors, and engines, with applications in agriculture, construction, and industry.

With these additions, the Organizing Committee now comprises the new companies alongside the following entities that were already members: Agro Intelligent, Agragex, Aguirre Maquinaria Agrícola, Agrator, Ama, Ansemat, Antonio Carraro, Apisa, Arcusin, Arados Fontán, Broch, Campag, Claas, Cumar, Industrias David, Ferruz, Fertinagro Biotech, Gascón International, Goizper Group, Government of Aragon, ICEX, Imasa, Kverneland Group, La Magdalena, Mas Seeds, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Government of Spain, Serrat, Tatoma, and Virkar.

FIMA 2028: dates, sectors, and visitor profile

The committee has announced that the next edition of FIMA will take place from February 15 to 19, 2028, at Feria de Zaragoza. Opening hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The event will once again bring together 12 strategic sectors in a single venue: fertilizers, phytosanitary products, and crop protection; digital agriculture; agro-energy; components and accessories; high-value specialty crops; tillage, sowing, and planting; harvesting and post-harvest; irrigation, energy, and water management; tractors and multi-purpose vehicles; land preparation and forestry; transport, handling, and storage; and nurseries, seeds, plants, and gardening. This broad scope will be complemented by a highly professional visitor profile, encompassing public authorities, farmers, professional associations, consulting and engineering firms, cooperatives, distributors, service providers, manufacturers, importers and exporters, research and education professionals, technical media, and technology specialists.

FIMA TECH to return at FIMA 2028

Following the success of its debut at the previous edition, the Committee has confirmed that FIMA TECH will continue for the 45th edition. Open throughout the fair, this area will delve into innovation within the agri-food sector, showcasing solutions related to agricultural robotics and automation, artificial intelligence, big data and predictive analytics, precision farming, efficient resource management, digital platforms, IoT, sensor technology, and smart farming.

Trade missions to generate new business opportunities

FIMA 2028 returns to Focusing on internationalization. The trade fair will resume initiatives aimed at attracting trade missions that deliver direct value to exhibitors. The program involves identifying strategic markets and professional profiles for the various sectors represented at the fair, as well as recruiting buyers, distributors, and importers with business potential. These efforts are designed to generate new commercial opportunities and foster B2B networking during the event.

FIMA 2028 Awards

Innovation and the continuous development of the agri-food sector are two key priorities for the International Agricultural Machinery Fair (FIMA). In keeping with this, FIMA 2028 is once again launching its flagship awards: the Technical Innovations Competition and the Excellence Award.

The Technical Innovations Competition will once again honor products developed by companies in the sector that demonstrate a strong commitment to R&D&i, recognizing solutions that offer superior technological value, innovation, and the ability to meet real market demands. The competition will retain its two traditional categories: "Outstanding Technical Innovations"—for developments that offer new functions and improve established procedures—and "Technical Innovations"—for those representing advances in functionality, performance, and reliability.

Additionally, the fair will host the sixth edition of the Excellence Award. This accolade highlights agricultural operations whose management and operational models demonstrate innovation and a positive impact, based on criteria such as originality, practical applicability, sustainability, and results achieved. The schedule for both calls for entries sets the official launch for January 2027, the registration deadline for November 12, 2027, and the announcement of the jury's decision for January 10, 2028.

Entering this new phase, FIMA 2028 builds upon the results of the 44th edition, which brought together 1,267 exhibitors—618 Spanish and 649 international—and 187,875 visitors from 35 countries, spanning 88,480 square meters of exhibition space and featuring over 80 technical sessions. The upcoming edition will take place from February 15 to 19, 2028, at Feria de Zaragoza, continuing to advance its mission of connecting visitors with companies across the sector.
