SMAGUA 2027 has filled its exhibition halls and plans to expand its exhibition space to meet demand
2026-10-15
With four months to go before the event, the International Water, Irrigation, and Environment Exhibition is seeing a high rate of bookings, with halls 3, 4, and 5 already fully occupied (100% capacity). This trend confirms strong corporate interest in participating in one of the water sector’s premier professional events.
The response from the business community, combined with the demand for exhibition space, has led the organizers to consider opening Hall 6 to accommodate companies that have expressed interest in taking part in the upcoming edition.
Furthermore, this growth is supported by significant institutional backing. The involvement of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, alongside the Hydrographic Confederations and other management bodies, reinforces the technical dimension of SMAGUA and its role as a catalyst for the industry.
New sectoral structure to meet market needs
SMAGUA 2027 introduces a new sectoral structure organized into nine key areas, designed to optimize the experience for visitors and professionals. These areas cover: water abstraction, transport, and storage; water and wastewater treatment and reuse; instrumentation, analysis, and automation; irrigation; the environment; the energy sector; engineering and service firms; other equipment and components; and associations, institutions, and the technical press. This configuration reflects the event’s commitment to adapting to market changes and fostering more direct connections among attendees.
Young talent: a priority for SMAGUA
True to its commitment to the future of the industry, SMAGUA 2027 will—for the first time—host a "Talent Day" (Jornada del Talento) on February 18th. Far from being merely a visit by educational institutions to the exhibition grounds, this event serves as a two-way bridge between young people and the industry. Its primary objective is not only to introduce them to the water sector but also to spark their interest in pursuing a professional career within it, facilitate their actual entry into the labor market, and help them drive and improve the future of the sector.
Greater Internationalization and Business Opportunities
The international dimension will once again be a key asset of this edition. SMAGUA 2027 will host trade missions featuring buyers and industry influencers from over 26 countries, fostering access to new markets and creating opportunities for participating companies.
Complementing this will be a "Brokerage Event"—organized in collaboration with CEOE Aragón—which will bring together professionals and companies for B2B meetings aimed at expanding networks, identifying new partners, and generating business opportunities. The program will be rounded out by an extensive schedule of technical sessions, lectures, and presentations, spearheaded by the sector’s leading associations and organizations.
The 28th edition of SMAGUA—the International Water, Irrigation, and Environment Exhibition—will take place from February 16 to 18, 2027, at Feria de Zaragoza. The event will coincide with the fifth edition of SPAPER (the International Exhibition for Pulp, Paper, and Cardboard Machinery and Equipment) and the inaugural edition of CITY.360 (an exhibition for mayors and public administration officials, held on February 17 and 18).
