Large attendance and technical expertise highlight the success of the second day of SMOPYC

2026-04-16

SMOPYC 2026 held its second day today at the Zaragoza Trade Fair with an agenda packed with industry meetings, professional gatherings, and technical sessions that reinforce the value of Europe's leading trade fair for the construction, public works, and mining machinery industry.

The high attendance throughout the day demonstrated not only the interest generated by SMOPYC but also the technical expertise of its visitors, including specialized professionals seeking firsthand knowledge of the latest innovations, generating business opportunities, and strengthening synergies.

The day began with the technical session "Advances in Applied Geotechnical Machinery," organized by AETESS (Association of Soil and Subsoil Technology Companies). During the session, the current state of the sector was analyzed, marked by advancements that are redefining geotechnical machinery, such as technological development, the incorporation of electrical equipment, adaptation to complex environments, and innovations aimed at improving reliability, productivity, and sustainability in foundations.

Following this, the consortium meeting for the European project H2MAC took place, organized by ANMOPYC and the Technological Institute of Aragon (ITA). This project aims to demonstrate the performance and reliability of a complete hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system applied to non-road mobile machinery (NRMM). Specifically, the project is working on the development of two newly designed machines, an excavator and a crusher, intended to operate in demanding environments where access to electricity is limited, such as mines and construction sites.

The day also included various institutional meetings and working sessions of sectoral entities. These included the Extraordinary General Assembly of GREMIOS – the Federation of Construction Guilds, held in the Ebro Room; the ANAPAT Board of Directors Meeting, in Room 3 of the Congress Center; and the ANEFHOP Aragon Management Committee Meeting, in Room 2. and the Board of Directors of the Spanish Association for the Recycling of Construction and Demolition Waste (RCDA), also in the Ebro Room.

Within the technical program, the session “MasterCO2re: From Innovation to the New Market Benchmark,” organized by Master Builders Solutions, took place, showcasing advancements aimed at improving sustainability in the construction sector. In addition, the “Get your ANMOPYC Passport at SMOPYC!” initiative continued, available throughout the day to encourage the participation of professional visitors in the activities promoted by the National Association of Manufacturers of Construction, Public Works, and Mining Machinery.

In parallel, the 2nd Competition for Future Professionals in Machinery and Lifting, organized by AFUPRO with the support of SMOPYC and ELEVA, continued. This initiative promotes young talent and fosters generational renewal. Along these lines, the program also hosted the session “Boosting Talent: Alternating Training and Attracting New Talent,” organized by ANMOPYC, ITA, ANAPAT, PTEC, the Construction Industry Labor Foundation, and FENAEX, focusing on collaboration between companies and training institutions to attract new talent.

Activities on Friday, April 17

The program continues tomorrow, April 17, with a focus on promoting generational renewal, with the New Talent Day. This initiative will allow 4th-year ESO (secondary school) students to learn firsthand about the realities and great opportunities offered by the construction sector.

The day will include talks and a guided tour of various partner stands. Afterward, students will have time to explore the venue, fostering direct contact with companies and facilitating guidance toward future career paths.

In addition, the program will include the plenary session of the CTN-UNE 115 Standardization Committee, “Machinery for Construction, Civil Engineering, and Building,” organized by UNE and ANMOPYC, along with the FENAEX General Assembly. Also taking place are the session “Market Surveillance: Ensuring Machinery Conformity” and a new edition of the SMOPYC Innovation Talks, in Hall 9, focusing on technological innovation applied to machinery and construction safety.

The third day will be further enhanced by the session “Innovation and Digitalization in Public Works Machinery,” organized by the College of Technical Engineers of Public Works of Aragon (CITOP).

With this agenda, SMOPYC 2026 is preparing for its third day tomorrow in this 20th edition, which is experiencing an excellent reception from the professional audience.
