2026-04-17

SMOPYC 2026 held its third day this Friday with a strong focus on generational change and the digitalization of the sector. The trade fair, specializing in machinery for construction, public works, and mining, made this day a turning point, building bridges with the new generations who, in the coming years, will take the reins of a sector undergoing profound technological transformation.

The highlight of the morning was the New Talent Day, held in the Innovation Pavilion (P.9). Following a welcome from the SMOPYC team, nearly two hundred 4th-year ESO (secondary school) students from CEIP Rosales del Canal, Colegio Obra Diocesana Santo Domingo de Silos, Colegio Zaragoza SchoolHouse, IES La Puebla de Alfindén, IES Torre de los Espejos (Utebo), IES Miralbueno, and the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (Construction Labor Foundation) attended a presentation by Hydromec entitled “The Construction Sector Today: Innovation, Technology, and Career Opportunities.” The presentation offered them an overview of the possibilities within this field.

During the event, the students were able to discover firsthand the numerous career paths available in the sector, ranging from engineering, surveying, and geotechnics to construction management, digitalization, operation of specialized machinery, and maintenance. All of this was presented by professionals committed to generational renewal, who highlighted an ecosystem with a strong demand for qualified talent.

Innovation, Regulations, and Digital Content on Day Three

Meanwhile, the institutional and technical activities maintained a high level. FENAEX (National Federation of Excavators) held its General Assembly in Hall 1 of the Congress Center.

At 11:30 a.m., in Hall 9, ANMOPYC hosted the session “Market Surveillance: Ensuring Machinery Conformity,” a technical event that addressed the role of market surveillance in guaranteeing the conformity of construction machinery with European legislation.

At 12:30 p.m., the final session of the SMOPYC Innovation Talks took place, entitled “Technological Innovation for Safety in Machinery and Construction.” The session analyzed technologies aimed at improving the safety of operators and workers: accident detection and prevention systems, machine vision, advanced operator assistance, work zone protection, and active and passive safety solutions. With this session, the SMOPYC 2026 Innovation Talks series came to a close, leaving a wealth of technical insights.

In the afternoon, the College of Technical Engineers of Public Works (CITOP) concluded its participation in the conference program with the session “Innovation and Digitalization in Public Works Machinery,” held in Room 3 of the Congress Center.

Throughout the day, the “Get your ANMOPYC Passport at SMOPYC!” initiative was active, as well as the popular Circular Economy Route, an activity that invites visitors to collect stamps on a card as they visit the stands of participating members for a chance to win a prize. The starting point is located in Hall 6, stand C32-36.
