SMOPYC 2026 is preparing its twentieth edition with a major commercial evolution and new initiatives

2025-11-13

The SMOPYC 2026 Organizing Committee, comprised of 15 associations and 25 of the sector's leading companies, has met again to present the new features of this 20th edition of the International Public Works, Construction, and Mining Machinery Exhibition, which will be held from April 15 to 18, 2026, at Feria Zaragoza under the slogan "Building a More Sustainable World."

Growth and International Expansion

Participation figures confirm SMOPYC's leading role in the sector in Southern Europe. Five months before the event, the trade fair boasts 866 exhibiting companies and brands from 34 countries, representing a 31% increase compared to the number of brands registered at the same time in 2023.

The contracted exhibition space has already reached 85,882 m², 56.79% more than the square meters requested at the same sales period for 2023, reflecting companies' interest in increasing their presence and showcasing their latest technological advancements more comprehensively.

Strategic Layout of the Exhibition Center

SMOPYC 2026 will occupy eight full halls plus an outdoor area for live machinery demonstrations. Hall 1 will be dedicated to industrial vehicles; Hall 2 to lifting equipment; and Hall 3 to aggregates and concrete. Hall 4 will house auxiliary equipment, while Hall 6 will focus on earthmoving and components. Hall 7 will feature earthmoving, components, drilling, and industrial vehicles; Hall 8 will be dedicated to earthmoving and components; and Hall 9 will house the new innovation space. The outdoor area will include demonstration zones, earthmoving, components, and lifting equipment, as well as an indoor plaza equipped for demonstrations.

One of the new features of this edition is the creation of the Innovation Pavilion, located in Hall 9 and organized by ANMOPYC, ITA, and PTEC. This multidisciplinary space will bring together associations to showcase their activities, an innovation challenge zone, a trade mission area for international business meetings, and a presentation area for innovation projects currently being developed at the Technological Institute of Aragon.

In addition, SMOPYC is launching a new website with a cleaner, more modern, and intuitive design that facilitates information searches and visit planning. It will also have a new mobile application that will function as an extension of the website, with content updated in real time.

New Categories in the Technical Innovations Competition

The event reinforces its commitment to innovation with a new edition of the Technical Innovations Competition, which incorporates four revamped categories in line with current industry trends: Design Innovation (machines, equipment, and components with improved design); Digitalization and Automation (systems designed with new digital technologies to automate functions or increase robotic autonomy); Environment (encompassing sustainability, circular economy, emissions reduction, energy transition, and sustainable materials); and Safety and Ergonomics.

Activities, Conferences, and Trade Missions

SMOPYC 2026 will once again feature a program of parallel activities. On Wednesday, April 15, SEOPAN will organize the Day of Major Construction Companies, and ASEAMAC will celebrate Rental Company Day. On Thursday, April 16, AEDED will hold Demolition Company Day. In collaboration with ANMOPYC, trade missions will again be held, strengthening international networking and knowledge exchange. The event will also host various professional sessions, including assemblies, roundtables, and industry meetings, among others.

Training and Talent Acquisition

SMOPYC 2026 reaffirms its commitment to new generations through two initiatives. First, the 2nd Competition for Future Professionals in Machinery and Lifting aims to promote training in transport and maintenance, strengthen the relationship between educational institutions and companies, and improve the quality of education in the sector. Second, on Friday, April 17, the New Talent Day, "Discover Your Professional Future in the Construction Machinery Industry," will be held for 10th-grade students. The day will include informational talks about the opportunities offered by the sector and visits to exhibition stands, with the goal of guiding students.

SMOPYC 2026 aims to be the benchmark meeting point for the public works, construction and mining machinery industry at a national and international level, making Zaragoza the epicenter of innovation and sustainable development in the sector.
