SMOPYC 2026 reveals the key aspects of its next edition

Feria de Zaragoza today presented the new features of the upcoming edition of the International Public Works, Construction and Mining Machinery Exhibition (SMOPYC), which will celebrate its 20th edition from April 15 to 18. The event took place at the Zaragoza Chamber of Commerce and was attended by the president of Feria de Zaragoza, Jorge Villarroya; the general manager of Feria de Zaragoza, Rogelio Cuairán; the deputy general manager of Feria de Zaragoza, Ana Hernández; and the head of the industrial area of ​​Feria de Zaragoza, Arancha Morquecho.

During his speech, the president of Feria de Zaragoza, Jorge Villarroya, highlighted the importance of the industrial sector, emphasizing its role as an engine of economic and social development. In this regard, he noted that it is an essential sector "that builds infrastructure, boosts regional development, and ultimately shapes progress."

Villarroya pointed out that “today we are facing a sector undergoing profound transformation, marked by digitalization, sustainability, and technological innovation. In this context, SMOPYC positions itself as a strategic ally: listening to the sector, anticipating its needs, and offering solutions.” She also emphasized the sector's current role, noting that “SMOPYC is the present, but above all, it is the future.”

For her part, Arancha Morquecho, head of the industrial area at Feria de Zaragoza, outlined some of the key themes that will structure the next edition of the trade show. Morquecho stressed that “with SMOPYC 2026, we wanted to clearly look to the future through initiatives that focus on innovation, talent, and new ways of connecting with the sector.” She highlighted that “one of the main features will be the Innovation Pavilion, located in Hall 9,” a space that will showcase the advancements leading the change within the sector.

On the other hand, the general manager of Feria de Zaragoza, Rogelio Cuairán, presented the growth figures for this event. In his address, he explained that the fair will be structured into nine pavilions, allowing visitors to explore seven sectors in an organized manner: earthmoving, lifting, drilling, aggregates and concrete, components, spare parts and accessories, auxiliary equipment, and industrial vehicles.

In figures, SMOPYC 2026 will occupy a total of 107,383 m² of exhibition space and will bring together 1,046 exhibiting brands, of which 571 are Spanish, 46 are from Aragon, and 475 are international, representing 32 countries. In total, 447 direct exhibitors and 599 indirect exhibitors will participate.

Trade Missions

SMOPYC 2026 further reinforces its international character with a program of trade missions. ANMOPYC (Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Machinery for Construction, Public Works and Mining), in collaboration with ICEX Export and Investment, will promote the internationalization of companies in strategic markets such as Kazakhstan, Egypt, the United States, Canada, Tanzania, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, and India.

Demo Zone and Outdoor Area

SMOPYC is bringing back the Demo Zone and the Outdoor Area this year, spaces designed for visitors to see large-format machinery and equipment in operation.

Through live technical demonstrations, professionals will be able to verify the performance, power, and efficiency of the machines under real working conditions.

Innovation Pavilion

The fair also includes the Innovation Pavilion, a space located in Hall 9 dedicated to showcasing the latest technological trends and the future of the sector. Organized by ANMOPYC, the Technological Institute of Aragon, the Spanish Technological Platform for Construction (PTEC), and the National Federation of Excavators (FENAEX), this space will bring together R&D prototypes, technical sessions on digitalization, automation, and sustainability, and activities aimed at promoting young talent and generational renewal in the industry.

Technical Innovations Competition

Within the framework of SMOPYC, the Technical Innovations Competition will also be held, one of the most prestigious awards, recognizing the most innovative solutions developed by exhibiting companies.
