The SMOPYC 2026 Organizing Committee, comprised of 15 associations and 25 of the leading companies in the sectors involved in the event, met last Wednesday, November 20th, at the Zaragoza Conference Center to outline the new strategy and main focus areas for the 20th edition of the event, which will take place from April 15th to 18th, 2026, at the Zaragoza Trade Fair Center.

One of the main new features of SMOPYC 2026 is its rebranding and new message, which, under the slogan "Building a More Sustainable World," refreshes the event's image and reinforces the sustainability focus that has guided its evolution in recent editions.

The new strategy of the International Public Works, Construction, and Mining Machinery Exhibition will focus on advancing the trade fair model to improve the experience for both exhibitors and visitors. To this end, SMOPYC will adapt more than ever to existing market demands, update its procedures, and work to become the strategic partner for all its audiences.

As key new features, the 2026 edition proposes a more technical approach to the event, with the creation of dedicated multidisciplinary rooms within the pavilions. These rooms will host workshops and parallel activities in collaboration with key industry players, enriching and strengthening SMOPYC as a meeting point and hub for discovering the latest developments and innovations in sustainable construction.

Another key new feature is that SMOPYC 2026 will include a new exhibition area called the "Demo Area," where companies can participate independently to showcase their machinery in operation; a very attractive feature for visitors and a response to a frequent request from the industry.

SMOPYC 2026 is also committed to nurturing new talent in the sector, who represent the future of the industry. The event encourages visits from vocational students, technical school students, final-year university students, and all young people interested in building a future in this promising field.

The event will continue its focus on innovation, launching a new edition of its Technical Innovations Competition. This competition aims to recognize products developed by companies that invest in R&D&I, selecting those that stand out for their technological contribution, innovation, and results. SMOPYC 2026 will also present the Torres Quevedo Award, which recognizes students in their final years of engineering, vocational training, and undergraduate programs who promote innovation in the construction sector through their projects and ideas.

SMOPYC 2026 is focused on the future and sustainability, and will once again make Zaragoza the national and international meeting point for the sector.
